I have read several books on spiritual warfare, and am currently writing on this very important topic. However, the issue is that many churches, do not think we are in a war, but playing a game with the enemy. The devil is sitting right in our churches, not being challenged. Our pulpits our filled with spiritually dead Pastors, more caught up on building a legacy than building the kingdom. Lets take a look at the climate, of the teaching that would be preached in the last days by the Apostle Paul, to Timothy.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
You might be asking what does this have to do with spiritual warfare? Well I believe it has everything to do with, the defeat I am seeing in our pulpits as I travel, and minister around the world. The preaching is so motivational that it has watered down the fact that we are truly in a war, That’s why the word of God tells us to stay vigilant, because Satan never sleeps he is forever lurking looking for his next victim.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
The church is asleep we are more caught up in the things of this word, and have lost our focus. This is why we are loosing the battle, I have ministered in churches of all sizes. and am saddened by what I have saw. However, this article is to first paint a picture to you, of just what we are up against. Then to inspire you to put on your war gear, and get ready because the battle is about to get real. As we approach the close of this age, things will get worse so we must fight, but not with our natural weapons but with the sword of the spirit. The bible tells us that this race called Christianity is not given to the swift nor to the strong, but he that endures into the end (Ecclesiastes 9:11). This battle that we are in is one that we can not afford to lose, because the price is to high. For each lose that we suffer, a soul is damned to eternal punishment, and separated from there creator. The one who sent his only son to die for the sins of the world, sits in heaven and cry’s over each soul lost to the enemy, and his camp. Church it’s time to stop playing church, this battle is worth more than a new car, or a new home. Somebody you love could go to hell, and you have the key to the door that will save them. The bible tells us what the purpose of our enemy is, it’s like a teacher that has given you a test. But you already know all the answers, God has told us in his word that the devil, comes but to steal, kill, and destroy.
The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly.
So you already see from scripture that the main goal of the enemy is to destroy you. We have to understand that the devil is not dressed up in a red outfit with horns. But was originally a angel of the highest class, and was second to only God himself. He was beautiful, and music was his gift he was in charged of initiating the worship in heaven. But the word tells us that the devils heart, sought more. He was not happen with being second, he wanted the glory of heaven and the authority of the father. Scripture tells us much about our enemy.
Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.
Satan let pride take over, his beauty and gifts made him believe that he was greater than the one that created him. This caused him to fall, and this is when the battle began. In war it’s important to be briefed on your enemy, well Satan from the beginning has made his entire mission centered on destroying God’s creation. For you to win this battle, I am going to give you some secret weapons, that the enemy does not want you to know. One is the importance of prayer, all battles as I wrote in our new book coming in September God’s Answers to Everyday Living. All battles are first won in prayer, before Jesus won the battle on the cross. He first won the battle in the garden. I personally pray throughout the day, prayer is our number one weapon against the enemy. Show me a Christian that does not pray, and I will show you why they have no power over the enemy. Another important weapon is fasting, I know Christian hate pushing back the plate, but Jesus did not say if we fast. But commands us to fast:
4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After he fasted forty days and forty nights he was famished.
6:16 “When you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, they have their reward. 17 When you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others when you are fasting, but only to your Father who is in secret.
Fasting crucifies the flesh, it actually tells your flesh to shut up in a way. And helps your spirit to gain a greater amount of control in order that you might walk in the spirit. In our ministry we see great miracles of instant healing, I have saw stage four cancer healed, and many more creative miracles. I personally live a fasted life style, I fast throughout the week and often do extended fast. For you who are new to fasting. Try a nine to twelve fast, then just add a extra hour each time. It’s important however, that while you are fasting that you are doing spiritual things, that your mind might be on God. There are many more but you will have to get our new book when released or catch one of our special teachings on this important topic. The secret to defeating the enemy is bible reading, the word of God tells us to study to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15). Many Christians do not read there bible, I always thought it was so funny, but sad. When I went into a Christians house, and saw there bible sitting on the stand in there home full of dust. This is usually the condition of the persons soul, dusty and dead. The bible tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). If you are not reading your bible, and not just reading but obeying because Jesus said that if you loved him you would keep his commandments. Many Christians know the word, but do not obey this is worse in the eyes of God than not knowing his word. There is a old saying that states to know better, is to do better. It’s time to do better, Jesus in the book of revelation rebuked several churches, one he rebuked for being lukewarm. He stated that he would rather a believer be cold, than in the middle. You actually help Satan’s camp by playing Christian, because the onlookers are watching, and I have always preached that some people might not ever read the bible. But your life, can preach louder than any sermon.
